School Store 2018

Saturday, July 28, 2017

Jim and Annabelle Robinson (pictured right) have led this great community ministry since it began in 1996.

Over the past 20+ years thousands of children in Wilson County have been given free, basic, necessary supplies and clothing for the new school year through the annual College Hills School Store. We appreciate everyone who will volunteer, pray, and donate (time, money, supplies & clothing) to make the 2018 School Store possible.

Volunteer Information

• Tuesday, July 24, 6:00 PM - Packing Party in the Auditorium

Kids of any age are welcome to come, all we ask is that if your child is under 1st grade that you stay with them and help them with whatever job they will be doing. If your child is in 1st grade or higher you will not need to stay with them. On the day of the School Store there are not many jobs that kids are able to do, so by allowing them to take over the packing party we are creating a space for them to serve their community along with the rest of the church.

• Thursday, July 26, 9:00 AM-12:00 PM - Prep/Set-up

• Saturday, July 28, SCHOOL STORE and Clothing Give-Away
(Volunteers please use the east drive near Winfree Bryant Middle School. Park in Lot C and enter by the Children’s Wing entrance to get your name tag.)
      5:30 AM - parking/security team & line workers arrive
6:00 AM - parking lot opens to welcome guests
7:15 AM - all other workers arrive at CHCC
8:00 AM - doors open and welcome guests!
    11:00 AM - clean up

School Supplies ... Beginning in June, you will notice trees with paper apples attached to them around the College Hills building.  Each apple lists school supplies that will be needed for our School Store.  Please "pick an apple", purchase the listed supplies, and bring the items to the School Store box in the College Hills church foyer.  Cash donations can be given to Jim & Annabelle Robinson (leaders of the School Store Ministry), or the church office staff.  They will use the funds to purchase supplies in bulk quantities.

Specific School Supply Needs include: erasers, rulers, coloring pencils, construction paper, and Crayola markers.

Clothing ... As you clean out your children's outgrown but in good condition clothes, remember that we need them for the clothing giveaway at the School Store.  All sizes 4T and up (many middle school and high school students wear adult sizes) of shirts (especially collared solid polo shirts), pants (navy, black, khaki, hunter green) and jeans are needed.  We are always grateful to receive cash donations to purchase underwear and other needed items.  Room 108 will serve as our sorting/working/storage room.   During the months of June and July, workers are needed on Wednesday evenings in room 108 to sort and size clothes.  See Anita FarmerLinda McDowell, or Brenda Fulghum if you have questions.

Other Clothing items needed:  Belts, shoes, jackets, backpacks, socks, underwear.

Guidelines for school clothes include:

Lebanon Middle School (grades 6-8): Must wear collared shirts (any shade of blue or white or green or gray are allowed.)  They can also wear navy, khaki, hunter green, or black pants or skirts.  Belts must be worn if pants have belt loops.

County Schools:  Beginning Fall 2014 students may wear appropriate tee-shirts. Belts are needed for anything with belt loops in grades 6-12.  Jeans or pants/skirts in navy blue, black, khaki, dark green, or brown are permitted.

City Schools:
Students 4th grade and under: no restrictions on clothing.
Students 5th grade and up: No blue jeans or denim of any kind. Solid navy blue, khaki, or hunter green pants/skirts.  Collared shirts in solid white, navy blue, or hunter green.

Please bring only clothes that are clean and in good condition.
We always accept
cash donations for purchasing other items.
