Who Are We?

Our Story ...

Thank you for taking the time to learn about the College Hills Church of Christ.  We are a grace-oriented church that believes in second chances and new beginnings.  Whether you are a brand new believer or a long-time Christian we hope you will consider joining our journey as we strive to “make and nurture disciples of Jesus.”

College Hills church began in 1836. We are part of a family of churches associated with what is commonly referred to as the “Stone-Campbell Movement.” Two hallmarks of this movement also known as the “Restoration Movement” are restoration and unity.  Our early pioneer leaders, in response to the confusion and division found in the broader religious world sought to simply go back to the Bible and restore the earliest forms of Christianity.  Today we wish to emulate the life and spirit we see in Jesus and the early church.

We also began as a unity movement.  One of the common refrains of those early leaders was, “In essentials unity, in opinions liberty, in all things love.”  We strive to be “Christians only but not the only Christians.”  We have a high regard for the Bible as God’s word, believe in the priesthood of all believers, practice weekly communion, and teach believers baptism by immersion.

Today College Hills Church of Christ is a God-honoring, Christ-focused, Spirit-empowered, mission-driven church.  We are striving to make a tangible difference in our community in bold, creative, and caring ways.  Over the years the Lord has blessed College Hills with amazing growth and influence.  Numerous community impacting ministries like Hearthside Assisted Living, Friendship Christian School, The Next Step Resource Center, and the Fellowship House all had their beginnings at College Hills.  In 2003 we moved from our former downtown location on College Street to our present facility and became College Hills. Today our facility is used in numerous ways by various groups.  Divorce Care classes, after school tutoring programs, Boy Scouts, Juvenile Justice Board, Foster Care Review Board, and numerous school organizations all use our facilities.  In addition, we have a very busy menu of weekly church activities and functions. As you can see, College Hills is a thriving, innovative church that is seeking to bless our community.
