On Sunday, August 28, 2011 the College Hills Church of Christ Elders called the church to a commitment.   First, all the parents who have children still living at home were asked to stand, then the entire church family was asked to stand and respond to the challenge.

Parent Pledge
Elder:
Parents, in Deuteronomy 6:4, God tells Israel that "The Lord Our God, the Lord is One."  Do you pledge to teach your children that there is one true God?
Parents:  We do.
Elder:  Do you pledge to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength" as commanded in Deuteronomy 6:5?
Parents:  We do.
Elder:  Will you impress these commands on your children, talking about them "when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up"?
Parents:  We will.
Elder:  Deuteronomy 30:19 says "Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him.  For the Lord is your life ..."   Do you pledge to choose life, love God, listen to his voice and hold fast to him so that you and your children may live?
Parents:  We do.
Elder:  May God bless you as you have dedicated your children to Him.  May He be the one true God of your life and the life of your children.  May you always love Him with all your heart, soul, strength, and may your lives be surrounded by stories of God's greatness.

The entire congregation joined the parents in standing and responding to the challenge.
