• Describe a time when you made a judgement about a person or situation based on external factors such as hair style, speech, clothes or facial expression.
• James calls on Christians to get beyond mere superficial appearances. Reflect on the statement, "... The Lord does not look at the things man looks at.  Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." I Samuel 16:7b
• We are commanded to not "show favoritism." (James 2:1)  What reasons does he list in James 2:5-12 that show favoritism is wrong?
• Reflect on James' statement at the end of verse 12 that says, "Mercy triumphs over judgement."
